So it is Monday after the Glenwood Arts Festival. Whoa! What a busy last few weeks.
In the two weeks leading up to the fest I was able to construct 27 new bags including (2) custom orders. Thank you, Eva and Christi; I hope you love your totes! I also went to camp with WilPower for three days and procrastinated on making my tent sign until Saturday morning! I was literally all set up at the fest and stitching my sign in the midst. With my mom's help, I finished about 1:30 pm. But I think it's super cute. I hope to show pictures soon.
The fest was a huge success for me! I sold 25 totes, which more than exceeded my monthly goal in two days. I cannot tell you all how excited I am for the future of Greenie Bean Recyclables. It was the most incredible feeling to see fest-goers walking through the streets of Rogers Park with MY TOTES! I also became very estatic for the prospect of custom orders. It was great that so many people are supportive of my mission to buy no new materials. I had about 15 people inquire about custom orders.
I also met so many great people. Check out Gwendoyln's site! I had the pleasure of meeting her and her husband and ready some great excerpts from her stories. Next to me was the amazing work of Angela Lyonsmith of Piece of Peace. To my knowledge she does not have a website, but she SHOULD! We executed a successful barter in which I received two beautiful paintings featuring quotes by Barbara Kingsolver and Margaret Mead which are now hanging above my desk at work. It was so amazing to meet with fellow artists and residents of Rogers Park. It's amazing what is right under my nose that I never realized. This is exactly what I wanted to get out of this fest!
So . . . thanks again to everyone who came to visit me this weekend, to hangout and chat, to those of you who purchased greenie bean totes. You make me so happy!
Today I'm wearing my new "fair trade" scarf from Kenya and listening to Tracy Chapman, a love affair I return to often ::
