To be honest with you, I focus on choosing products whose packaging is recyclable. I refuse plastic produce bags at the grocery store by putting a basket in the seat and filling it up -- then transferring the fruits and veggies to cloth bags. Oh, and I use cloth bags. Styrofoam hasn't seen the inside of our home in many a day (month, year?). But good gracious, I hadn't give much thought to how much plastic we were consuming until we went to take our recycling to the center last weekend. This was one month's worth of plastic for our 4-person household.
Absolutely appalling. Granted, those huge gatorade and 7-Up bottles were from our house-wide illness, but it's so much!
I hate plastic. I hate that it infiltrates every aspect of our lives and touches every thing we come in contact with including what we eat, what we drink, and even what we bathe with (go check how much plastic is in your shower. Crazy, huh?!). My friend Ryan tried to go a month without using plastic and found it damn near impossible.
Folks, I don't even know where to start. How do you eliminate plastic from your home's diet?
