A glorious Sunday is today.
after an extremely busy two weeks,
a lovely weekend of handmade market,
family, and friends . . .
I slept in today.
No alarm, no schedule, no agenda.
My eyes opened at 8:00 and I headed outside.
I used our reel mower to push mow the lawn and ever did it need it!
I needed it too . . . it’s great exercise!
As this beautiful sky allowed us a few morning clouds,
I seized the opportunity to dig up the rest of the hostas, daffodils, and roses.
I replanted them all along the front fence line and mulched them.
Ahhh . . . so much prettier!
While Jimmyredhed worked on hanging the last deck railing
(as the gas company finally came and rerouted our gasline!),
I watered and weeded the garden.
I foresee one or two more batches of tomatoes and eggplant before the season’s end.
I also daydreamed up a blueprint for next year’s raised beds.
Our goal is to get the beds constructed and filled before winter.
We will use the reclaimed stones we pulled from the front yard to make the beds.
Too excited to nap (the redhed’s off to watch football),
I put together a map of our garden!
The plan is to cut the existing bed in half and allow pathways around the beds,
to give easier harvesting and weeding access.
Our high hopes will eventually lead the beds out to the front fence!
Digging in the dirt is life's sweetest respite.
