Today is the first Saturday in MONTHS that Jimmy has had off. So we woke up at 7 am this morning with a list of things we wanted to accomplish. Despite the rain we headed down to the Edgewater farmers market at Broadway and Peterson-ish across the street from the Dominicks. I was mildly disappointed as there were only three vendors, but we got some yummy veggies that I instantly prepared as soon as returning home :
This week we will be feasting on green leafy lettuce, fresh green beans, celery, radishes, green peppers, green onions, egg plant, and cantaloupe.
I cleaned the whole house (yowza), vacuumed and all. Jimmy put together our new filing cabinet, picked up glass for extra shelves in our built-in hutch, and bought me a rubbermaid and potting soil for our new COMPOST BIN!
I sat on the back porch this morning with two of the beautiful neighbor boys, one of whom calls Jimmy and I "the next doors." I had them help me pack the bottom of the bin with potting soil and shred newspaper. They worked on burying all our veggie scraps and made exclamations like "THIS LOOKS LIKE BRAINS" in regards to the pepper seeds.
Hopefully the majority of our waste will be eliminated and I will have wonderful soil for the standing garden that Jimmy has agreed to build me! I am going to contact some friends of ours to see if I can pick up some worms from their bin to transport to ours. If anyone has any composting tips, please please share!
So the boys are in town tonight and they've already moved the TMNT II arcade game into our dining room and eaten their shares of chilli. Tonight will be an interesting night!
Here is my first MAN bag that I custom-made for Mario tonight. He specifically requested purple so there are many varying "purple" patterns. What are your thoughts?
