this beautiful friday night has provided me with much needed down time after such a busy week. as the clock ticks later and later, i'm curled in the living room with only the light of the lamp glowing, killer tucked beside me (with her legs propped on a pillow and crossed), and incense lazily hazing the room. **scratch that. killer and i just ran to grab a pizza for jimmy and zach
i finished a four session, Small Business Boot Camp yesterday through JVS. It was an amazingly valuable experience and I didn't really know what to expect going in. I feel that they gave incredible insights and very concrete tasks and expectations for starting and running your own business; coming out of the class, I feel that my business is tangible. I also made some great networking contacts that I hope to utilize in the future.
I begin my business counseling next week. My first step was to pull my credit report. Much to my surprise (and frustration), I found one outstanding medical bill that was not paid. Knowing there is nothing to do but pay it (despite being barely 18 at the time), I called them up today and made arrangements to pay it. I'll forego my rant on this matter now, but believe me, I was not pleased. I will be so relieved to remedy the situation and forget about it.
The inspiration of my past week has been the book The Boss of You. I believe this book to be essential and instrumental for any woman even considering starting her own business. It is helping me put so many things in perspective and develop an accurate sense of running a business as well as paying myself a decent wage. I plowing through this book. I hope to begin writing my business plan next week, which is also step two for my business counseling with JVS.
Tote making has been up and down over the last few weeks. I've made a handful of new bags, but no marathons like usual. Pictures to come soon.
