My sewing room is near complete restoration and I've begun to move in!
This room is considered the "first floor bedroom." this first picture shows the room as it stood when we first toured the house. A decent size, the room was completely outdated with sixties wood paneling, electricity on the outside of the wall, a closet that was built around that dresser (wtf -- who does that) haphazard at best. While the beautiful, original wood floors were in pretty good condition, they had been varnished only up to the furniture. We decided that changes must be made!
Complete demolition began on my sweet little sewing room. Immediately the wood paneling came down to reveal three layers of wallpaper covering up a horrible dry wall job in which the seams were duct taped instead of mudded! Jimmyredhed did most of the destruction of the room, including the closet which revealed more and more horrible handiwork as each board and seam came down. We soon realized that complete renovation of the room was in store for us.
With the help of a few friends, Jimmyredhed and I (read :: mostly him) insulated, re-drywalled, mudded, sanded, and painted the entire room, ceilings included!
This organizer was a completely awesome (FREE) hook up from my buddy Jim from the paint store. The shop discontinued their wallpaper line and were throwing this out -- as it used to hold wallpaper samples. I snatched it up for my fabric, stored it in the FIL automechanics garage until the week when jimmyredhed hauled it home for me. This picture was taken after I sorted, folded, and stored one bin of fabric. Four more to go! The walls are painted a lovely gold which I love.
more updates to come on my sewing studio!
