i have fulfilled a significant amount of custom orders in my time as the makeshift seamstress i claim to be. BUT i am extremely excited about my newest project. i met a lovely woman named cara at the Chicago Green Music Festival who like the sign i created from greenie bean recycle. through further exploration, i found that she loves greens, browns, and trees just as much as i. cara, however, is part of a really groovy band called The Giving Tree Band, which i instantly liked because i am a huge fan of the Shel Silverstein book of the same name. in talking with cara, it came about that i would custom-make them a banner for their merch table. i rode my little scooter over to Lincoln Park on Tuesday to meet with Cara and some of the members of the band to talk specifics of this banner, pick out fabrics, and colors.
anyway, i've been listening to this band to get a feel of their sound, style, and music to best develop their banner. and well . . . i like 'em. described (on their website, i think, but i can't find it now) as "having one foot in the country and one in the city." Like me! what is extremely cool about this band, aside from their sound, is that they are totally eco-friendly . . . to a point that you will need to visit their website and read about yourself. how freakin' cool.
so moral of the story, i'm making this banner for them and i like their music. listen to it, download it, get to know them and i will post pictures of the finished product!
