I drove nearly five hours by myself on Friday, in rush hour traffic, to get to Cuba, IL.
Jimmyredhed finished his Starbucks tenure on Saturday and was not able to join me.
I'd realized that I had not been home by myself since October 2007.
The drive was long and tedious, but the trip was perfect.
Friday night, I met my parents at the new Asian Buffet in Canton which I hear is talk of the town.
We watched "Numbers" and chatted.
I went to sleep early.
Saturday, my mom and I got up early and drove outside of town to the relatively new Amish settlement.
The weather was fabulous and I'd even missed the mud!
We first visited their bakery.
My mom got their coveted handmade donuts, baked only on the first Saturday of the month.
I got a bottle of agave nectar, quinoa, bulgar, and curry.
I also got peanut butter granola, blueberry jam, and peppermint tea.
We drove a little ways down the road and visited their general store too.
I didn't get anything, but it was cute!
We ran home to shower and get ready for our thrifting adventures!
We hit up Goodwill in Canton.
I picked up a vintage Fire King baking dish, a glass that says "Bull Shit,
some tye dye fabric, a pair of jeans, and a 10,000 Maniacs cd.
My mom bought me two vintage wicker purses.
Then we headed over to K&L Antiques which is a consignment antique shop.
I picked up a bunch of burlap bags, some feed sacks, and a vintage recipe box.
We ate a delicious lunch of catfish strips at TJ's Diner.
Then the fun of the greenie bean photoshoot began!
