Do you have a food that is your trusty stand by?
Ours, without a doubt, is hummus. Store bought hummus is so expensive so I learned to make it myself a few years ago. We've enjoyed it (nearly) weekly ever since. We've recently arrived at a recipe we love the best. Nothing is greater than a fresh, warm batch of hummus and a toasted pita stuffed with walnuts!
(2) cans of chickpeas
(1) garlic clove (or 2 heaping spoonfuls of minced garlic)
(2) heaping spoonfuls of tahini
spices to taste
Open both cans of chickpeas and drain one. Add two cans and the liquid of one to a sauce pan. Add garlic. Add preferred spices (we use crushed red pepper, black pepper, and cumin) Cook on low to medium heat for 20+ minutes. Stir occasionally.
Add mixture to a food processor (I use my awesome immersion blender). Add tahini. Mix until smooth.
